Russian Railways sees final approval of Moscow–Kazan railroad soon
MOSCOW, Mar 12 (PRIME) -- Russian Railways hopes that the government will finally approve a high-speed railway project from Moscow to Kazan within a month, CEO Oleg Belozyorov told the transport and construction committee of the State Duma, parliament’s lower house, on Tuesday.
“We have completed preliminary work. I think that a final decision will be made within a month,” he said.
The 770-kilometer Moscow–Kazan high-speed railway, part of a planned 7,000-kilometer railroad between Beijing and Moscow, is supposed to reduce the travel time to 3.5 hours from 11.5 hours by regular railway.
